Sour is a very popular album written by Olivia Rodrigo. There's a lot of ups and downs in the album about heartbreak, growth, and just things you feel when you are growing up. This was Olivia Rodrigo's first album and so it launched her career.
I love the original cover, but I wanted to put my own spin on it. I wanted to be able to represent the album's themes and emotional depth through the visual design. I choose to make a watercolor background to show the variety of different songs she has in the album and how not one of the songs are alike. The portrait of Olivia I wanted to be of the original, but still in my own style. With over 1,300 layers each being a different color I was able to make an amazing photo that looks like the original just in a different style. Her facial features I gave the most detail to were her eyes, nose, and mouth. She has stickers on her face that was a huge theme of this album and I knew I wanted to keep those simple to ensure it didn't take away from all the details I had made in her facial features.
